The Qaysari Bazaar has been Erbil’s main market for centuries. Its brick-vaulted lanes run from the foot of the citadel, with sections for spices, dried fruit, sweets, honey and cheese from the mountains, gold, textiles and traditional Kurdish clothing.
Around the bazaar and the square below the citadel are old tea houses where locals play dominoes and drink tea. It is the best place in Erbil to feel the everyday life of the city.
